Re: [slim] Scanning new music database: stalling at building text index
I have the performance set to maximum. What if you left it in "High" mode only? Since the process stalled, I can say that the total amount of RAM disc use is 2 GB. What do you consider "stalled"? Is the process still running? -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

The total system RAM is 16 GB. The CPU is a quad core i7 processor. I have the performance set to maximum. Since the process stalled, I can say that the total amount of RAM disc use is 2 GB. The library.db is 788 mb. Re: [slim] Scanning new music database: stalling at building text index
I have about 8 TB of files, more or less. I'm using a RAM disk for the Squeezebox database/cache; the RAM disc is 8 GB in size. How much RAM? What memory setting in Settings/Advanced/Performance? For some reason, the software will not complete the scan: it always stalls at step 2 of 7 of "building the full text index". I checked the RAM disc and less than a third of it is occupied. During the scan, or when idle? How large is your library.db? -- Michael ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Scanning new music database: stalling at building text index
I have posted previously how my particular configuration which I have built up over years at one point included a fatal flaw: a USB controller corrupted 25% or more of my music library and since I didn't know it, it corrupted the back-ups too. So recently I have found older backups in my archives that are not corrupted. I recently put them into a couple of NAS drives in a hard drive enclosure and have started restoring the UNcorrupted files. There are about 250k files I have about 8 TB of files, more or less. I'm using a RAM disk for the Squeezebox database/cache; the RAM disc is 8 GB in size. I'm running the latest Windows beta from 10/22/2020 for my Squeezebox software. For some reason, the software will not complete the scan: it always stalls at step 2 of 7 of "building the full text index". I checked the RAM disc and less than a third of it is occupied. I have attached the scanner log. Thoughts? TIA.
