I've just posted an outline of how we'd like to manage workshop websites
going forward at

We'd be very grateful for feedback as comments on that post (so that the
whole discussion is in one place): will this scheme work for you? What
questions do you have? How could we make it even simpler, especially for
people who aren't experts in HTML templating and Git?
