sorry for taking so long to answer, but your update solved the problem.

But to my feeling, it is not clear as to what is the problem: is it the pdf
that cannot be generated, or is it the executable that does not exist.

So now I am trying 2 things:

   - add a  test on if defined FREEBSD, to initialize gsPath with the
   correct value
   - test if the filename that was entered in the textfield really exists
   and eventually, if it is an executable file.
