Dear all,
In all countries of the OECD marketing practices are regulated in one way or
another. For instance, if I sell ear rings made out of lead I can not claim
they are made of silver. In some cases this sort of distinction is not easy, as
is the case with "open source" or "open".

Dear all,
In my experience maintenance and operational costs are far higher with
proprietary software than with open source. With some licenced products
operational costs are actually the largest slice of the budget. But well, that
is only the experience of a single individual.
However, in
agree!
How could we approach this for open source software?
(sorry for my late reaction, just returned from a longer holiday break ...)

Thank you all the replies.
Perhaps the portfolio page should be more visible in the home page; or perhaps
with a more explicit name.
Cheers.

Hi everyone,
Is there any resource within the OSGeo cosmos to help hiring freelance
developers from our community? For instance, an index of folk certified by
Arnulf?
A quick web search only comes up with general freelance websites.
Thank you.

Dear Suchith,
My only comment at this would be on the "digital divide". To what does it refer
exactly? Is it obvious to everyone that may come read this pledge?

Dear all,
I would like to second the nominations of María Arias de Reyna and Astrid Emde
to the OSGeo board. From personal interactions at FOSS4G conferences and
following their work online, I am convinced they can both deliver the
leadership we need at OSGeo.
Best regards.

Dear all,
I would like to second the nominations for charter member the individuals
listed below. All of them I met at one time or other and all strike me as true
OSGeo advocates.
. Jorge Samuel Mendes de Jesus
. Eva Jelínková
. Patrick Hogan
. Bart van den Eijnden

Dear Marco,
This would be an interesting venue to submit an article on PyWPS. However, the
PyWPS project is entirely based on voluntary contributions, therefore we have
no financial means to pay the 840 € required to publish in this journal. Would
a waiver be considered for our case?

Dear Sanghee,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As an European I find it useful to get
these "showers of reality" everyone once in a while; it is easy to forget how
fortunate one may be for being born in this part of the world. I trust the

Dear Patrick,
I am a member of the PyWPS PSC, a project that graduated just recently. PyWPS
was in active incubation for 3 years; it was indeed a long process, but along
the way it was generally clear what we were missing to reach the finish line.
I would suggest the Worldwind PSC to share the
SA-NASA WorldWind as part of OSGeo by default.

Dear all,
I would like to develop a GML application schema [0] from an existing domain
model. This is essentially an XSD file that can later be used by a WFS server
like GeoServer. I am only aware of the Geospatial extension to Enterprise

Dear Ben,
I have worked with Papyrus for nearly a decade. I developed DSMLs on it and
Eclipse-integrated code generators using MOFM2T supported by Acceleo. It is a
rather powerful tool, and quite deep, which I imagine is the reason why some
folk do not fancy it.
I find it tragic to have what

Ditto. GRASS is over 30 years old, MapServer, GDAL and PROJ are over 20 years
old. An OSGeo Pantheon would be the right homage to all those that made FOSS4G
what it is today, but are no longer among us.
Cheers.

Hi there,
thank you to the board for going through with this initiative. While it may
seem there is little time left to influence the process, it is still very
important to let your MEPs know of your concerns. We all benefit if the open
