I have both an SB3 and a transporter. The SB3 remote stopped working a while ago. That was no problem as the one for the Transporter and other devices worked fine. Recently the Transporter remote stopped working as well. At the moment it is not a problem but it occurred to me what would I do

You can't, you can only send CLI commands to the server which doesn't help if the player is not connected. You could try Net::UDAP, not sure that works, depends on whether you SB3 auto-updates the firmware and auto-connects to the network. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57861
