Killing ovs-vswitchd won't delete the bridges in the kernel datapath.  Are you 
trying to remove the kernel module after all the bridges have been removed?  
What do you see when you run "ovs-dpctl show" when you can't remove the kernel 
module?

Also, see if this is related to a known issue that was discussed here [1].
I never got look at the code that Jesse suggested [2]; sorry!

You might check the log files.  You might also check "lsmod" and see if there's 
any dependency on it.
