[pfSense-discussion] Question about the latest snapshots

2007-03-09 Thread Max Cristin
I'm planning to use pfSense at my colocation. I'll be running the
embedded version on a Wrap board with 128MB and 256MM CF.

The setup is going to be pretty simple. 4 or 5 web servers on 1 to 1
NAT, not traffic shaper, IPSec link to the Sonicwall in the office and
maybe a couple of PPTP once in a while just for admin purposes.

I'm tempted to use the latest snapshot instead of the official 1.0.1
version. I would like to get some feedback from other people using the
snapshot in general and on Wrap in particular. Are there any major issue
with the latest snapshots? How far are we from the final release of the
next stable version? If I run a snapshot now, will I be able to
upgrade to the final release without reflashing the CF?

Thanks.

Max

Is anybody interested? I've begun hacking together a package, would the
developers be interested in taking it as either a third-party package or
right into main-line pfSense? It does require some changes to the PHP
init scripts and the addition of a modified kernel module (ng_fec.ko).
It also allows 802.1q VLAN's across the bonded NIC's (as long the NIC's
support VLANs).

I think there would be some interest. Let us know when you get closer.
