Hi Guys,

I have an old but barely used HP Pavillion f1703 LCD monitor. I got it
several years ago in the US, and then I moved and it spent about 8 months in
its box.

Long story short, when I finally took it out, it would turn itself off after
1-2 minutes, then if you turned it off and on again, it would turn off
almost immediately. It appears to be a known problem, but HP would not fix
or replace it, because I missed the recall window on it. I had it looked at
in a computer store, and it is not worth fixing it, nor would the store buy
it, b/c they can't sell if now for the price of the part.

The sad part is, the monitor is great and hardly used. The problem is not
hard to fix, for a professional with access to parts or information from HP.
It is just that after 4 years, even an unused monitor has no resale value
that justifies the effort for a commercial enterprise, and individuals like
me can't fix it.

So, if someone can help me fix it for a small amount of money, I would
appreciate it. Alternatively, if someone can use it for a charity work (i.e.
use it for parts, or fix it and donate it to a school or community center),
please contact me and I will give it to you.

I am staying in Central Tel Aviv (near Dizengoff Center or Habima), and
could possibly bring it to the next TALinux meeting.

The 'window of opportunity' will close by the 9th of March. If I don't find
takers or helpers, I will just leave it by the curb.

Thanks,

Z.
