Unfortunately, I won't be available for the sprint this weekend (except maybe an hour or two). Anyway, ticket #2910 [1] (Add extension support to Markdown filter) has been around for more than a year and now that auto-escaping has landed, I feel is ready for checking in - that is assuming the core devs what to add the feature. So, could someone look at this during the sprint if you have time?
If, for some reason the decision is made to not include it, we'll maintain a copy with python-markdown and I'll probably slap a copy up on django-snippets. That said, I'd rather see it included. The list of publicly available extensions [2] is growing (I have a few more in the works) and I know that many people have unreleased extensions they're using privately. A search of django-snippets will turn up a few snippets that are manipulating markdown output without using extensions - mostly because django doesn't support markdown extensions out of the box (there are a few legitimate exceptions). Thank you.
