msgfmt error while attempting to compile po files

Whenever I try to compile the po files to mo files using 'python django-admin.py compilemessages' command i get the error: "sh: msgfmt: not found" I'm in a Ubuntu 9.04 system. Thank you for your time and any help you can give me. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You
