I'm trying to connect my android phone to my devuan laptop as a USB storage device but it aint working. Connecting an ordinary USB storage device automounts and triggers a popup in pcmanfm. dmesg says it has detected the device and lsusb shows an entry as well but I can't seem to find a device

Good call there, Hendrik! I dont recall it working before, but the sdk I had was ancient - grabbed the latest android SDK and it works great now, best part is I didnt have to set up any udev rules! Only odd thing was I had to uncheck and re-check the 'usb debugging' option in the phone settings
