Hi all, I was playing with chage in my Devuan box and noted that lxsession (or LXDE, I don't know) freezes when the user's password has expired.
I think lxsession starts ok, but after entering the user's password you just get a blank screen. Maybe it doesn't have the necessary functionality to reset the user's password? In any case, the only way to solve this is to open another TTY and login. That way the user it's prompted to set a new password. Cheers, Emiliano.
