Hi, Sorry for my mistake: it is the kernel package that creates the /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symbolic links. Therefore, I should have written 'new kernel packages do not create these links. Hi All, I have just tried update-grub more than once to make sure what I observed for the first time since I have been using GNU/Linux: /vmlinuz and /initrd.img symbolic links are no longer created.
