Hi,
If I add a new file in /etc/dnsmasq.d that has a few srv-host entries,
what's the best way to signal dnsmasq, other than restart it, so that
those records can be resolvable?
Thanks!

can dig bertand. (ending dot), but you can't dig bertand.your.dhcp.domain.
You will see the issue if you add the same domain in the cname config, eg:
cname=bertand.your.dhcp.domain,bert

Did it work for you? If so, what version of dnsmasq do you use?

and NOT a DNS record which comes from an upstream server.
dhcp target should work since it is known to dnsmasq. A name from a
different dummy domain cname to dhcp target confirms working. The issue
seems t

Assuming your dhcp domain is internal.yourcompany.com, with an existing
dhcp client client1, please add
cname=testalias.internal.yourcompany.com,client1.internal.yourcompany.com
and check if testalias.internal.yourco

dig/nslookup of alias.dummy.example.com will return both name
client1.test.example.com and its IP.
I tried a few different versions but that doesn't make a difference.
Is this a known issue/limitation?
Thanks!

This is the configuration I’m using to have dnsmasq as an authoritative server
for my domain. I’m not using any cnames, though, so I don’t know if that works.
auth-server=dns.example.com,eth0
auth-zone=example.com,192.168.0.0/16
host-record=dns.example.com,192.168.1.224
domain=example.com
local=/
no-resolv
no-poll
Assuming the man page is correct, those are the two options you want to prevent
DNS from being forwarded. Don’t put a server statement in your config as Geert
is suggesting.

I used the first 100 thousand entries from here:

now that .200, and .300 aren't configured. I'm trying to get
something on .100 to work first. Kinda like the KISS principle.
Do you see anything obviously wrong with this?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
