I do apologize. Further investigation took me to my Windows XP clients that seems to append to every host request the local domain ( we are dismissing a Windows domain but the machine are still joined). So if I ping testhost XP will add Autoservice.locale to the request.I tried adding
Hi everyone,I'm trying to make dnsmasq work in my small office. It's installed on Ubuntu machine.Everything seems ok I can resolve host names of the other PC's.The only thing I'd like to fix now is that I have to put a dot at the end of the host name otherwise it will not be resolved. So basically

If this is done, won't the autotools chain will be a prerequisite for dnsmasq

Maybe OK for Linux OSes ... not necessary for other platforms/OSes (think
Solaris, AIX, and even more obscure, etc).
Why the overhead?!?

Hello,
I had this idea while trying to consolidate my PXE net-install machine using
dnsmasq instead of ISC-DHCPD, TFTPD, and BIND, which I used before.
I still had to run a web server (yeah, I know there are plenty of small
ones), so for such use cases it would be great if dnsmasq had a small
that the cache policy would have to be
updated, so entries are cleared depending on the last recent usage not on
their TTL expiration.
Thanks,
