Hi.
You a wrong about no setting at all elements disappearing in target document.
If element's profiling attribute is not set, it will show up.
And if $profile.condition or other profiling variable is not set, elements will
not be filtered.

Hi folks,
I will use this opportunity to invite everyone to attend XML
Prague 2007 (http://www.xmlprague.cz/). You will see and hear excellent
speakers talking about up-to-date topics (and yes, Norm will have
DocBook session during the conference). As the conference is quite

XSLT XSL-FO FAQ.
Dear list,
I want to place a background image in the header of my pdf-file.
I managed to put a image in the header and the text in front of it,
but the image is clipped at the top. I first thought, that this is due
to the region.before.extent-parameter not being big enough, but I set
Hi Dmitry,
Actually, if an empty string is used, the profiled section will
disappear. For example:
xsltproc --stringparam profile.condition '' --output output.xml
profiling/profile.xsl input.xml
You're right about not setting profile.condition at all though; in
that case the profiled section
Hi Ken,
Just wanted to clarify.
No setting at all I understand as is not set, but not set to empty string.
So your first message confused me.
Thanks.

Hi,
The problem is that you're putting the background image attribute in the
header.content template, which is effectively applying it to a regular
fo:block. Take a look at this fragment of code from the template
header.table.
fo:table-cell text-align=left
Hello all,
I'm using the DocBook 1.72 stylesheet to create a CHM file from a
DocBook V5 document.
If I use DocBookV4.x, I can use the ulink.target parameters

This would transform DocBookV4 ulinks

Hi Everyone,
I'm producing PDFs using the 1.69.1 stylesheets and FOP 0.20.5. I have
a ulink with a long URL in a table entry. The ulink text does not
wrap; instead, it continues across additional columns and disappears
off the page.
The relevant part of my XML is as follows:

I think that is an oversight. The xlink:title attribute is processed, so
xlink:show should be too. If set to new, then I suppose the ulink.target
value should be used, since effectively it is the same as a ulink. Can you
file a bug report on the DocBook SourceForge site so this can be

I think perhaps your string quotes are being lost in the processing of the
arg element? If 'pdf' doesn't get through to the stylesheet as a string,
then it will be interpreted as an XPath element name, which will not match
any element. I don't know Ant well enough to know if that is the case,
Not sure on the string quotes/Ant thing. If 'pdf' doesn't get through
and is interprested as an XPath element name, wouldn't no profiling
occur at all (everything would appear in the PDF)? All variations on the
arg except the one I'm using result in an error or no profiling at

Cheri,
Are you using exec to call Saxon? Try using the xslt task--it's much better
for this if you're using a java xslt processor. In the following example,
assume the properties condition, saxon_class_path, in, out, stylesheet_path,
and xslt-force-regeneration, are defined elsewhere:
Oh, if you do need to use exec for some reason, try arg
line=profile.condition='pdf'/ instead of using the value attr on arg. I
think with value it was treating the whole string (including the ='pdf' part as
an argument):

Thanks for all the suggestions! My initial results (albeit backwards) solve an
immediate problem my group has, so I'll live with that for the moment and dig
further into your suggestions when I have a bit more time.
Thanks again!

I've got a running header that includes the top 2 section level markers.
I'd like the header to include markers for refentry sections. How can
I do that?
