I'm wondering it fit is possible to modify the page number lable.
I mean the lable that says
10 of 235 or so.
Do the fo styleshett generate that info, or is fop doing that?
We would like to show the numbers on the page, because our page 1 is
actually on page 17.

I mean not on the document, but on for instance in the pdf viewer.
You can change that with acrobat.
But those numbers differ from the page numbers on the pages.

Can someone clue me into what to add to a customization layer to left-align

function of the fo renderer. I know XEP supports logical pagination in most
cases: http://www.renderx.net/lists/xep-support/3999.html So if you use the pdf
backend or the ps backend and acrobat distiller, you should get

I can't see what your customization layer looks like, but you have to
declare the formatting objects namespace and prefix in your
customization layer. Attaching the entire customization file and
sending it to this list might also help.
