[libreoffice-documentation] General release organization meeting

2013-11-19 Thread Sophie
Hi all,

In order to try to have the best organization for the release of 4.2.0
that will happen in February, I would like to organize a meeting between
all the projects concerned to make sure we don't forget anything or miss
some deadlines and coordinate well together.
It would be good to have this meeting during RC1 period (16 to 22 of
December) so we have still some time left before the final release. I've
set a Doodle here :

http://doodle.com/sqkyaaeb5aaigarq

We will use the marketing channel on IRC and it would be really great if
we could have people representative from :
- design team
- marketing team
- QA team
- localization team
- native language team and members who administrate website in their
language
- developer team
- documentation team, I'm not sure this team is really concerned but
feel free to join :)

If I miss somebody don't hesitate to tell me :) And please follow up the
discussion on the *marketing list*.

I will provide an agenda of the meeting on the wiki next week, where
you'll be able to add the points you want us to discuss. I would like to
keep it short for all teams and we will do another meeting if one team
feels it's necessary.

Thanks all in advance for your participation!
Kind regards
Sophie

[libreoffice-documentation] LibreOffice 4.0 Getting Started Guide

2013-11-19 Thread Alan Wheatley
Hi Team,

I have just started using LibreOffice (on an iMAC with OS X 10.8) having used
OpenOffice in the past. Delighted by the Getting Started Guide. I would like to
support your efforts by providing feedback.

As to linking styles, this does not work for Page styles. When creating a new
Page style from an existing style, the window has Linked greyed out: works OK
with, say, paragraph styles.

I get the same result with a document and a template.

Any idea if this is intended, or a bug, or something?

I want to set up page styles for a document with chapters. I thought I could do
this by creating a Base page style with the document title common to all
chapters centre headings (as a field) and different right heading for each
chapter. I can, of course, do this by manually applying the centre heading to
every page style I create, but l expected that by linking the new page style to
the base style the chapter heading in the Base page style would be set into
each linked page style automatically.

Best wishes, Alan Wheatley

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] LibreOffice 4.0 Getting Started Guide

2013-11-19 Thread Jean Weber
Page styles cannot be linked. That is working as designed and AFAIK it's always
been that way. BTW, you often don't need as many page styles as you might
initially think. Chapters 6 7 in the Writer Guide have more details.

[libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide Annex B

2013-11-19 Thread John Smith

Hi Jean.
The chapter has now had its first pass through with all the functions
looked at. I'm just doing a final pass.
Where a function's arguments are lower case, and a sentence begins with
that name, does it retain its lower case formatting because it's a
variable's name?

JohnS
