Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Re: Macro Code Colorizer

2020-06-05 Thread Dan Lewis
I agree with not having the macro created character styles added to the
template. To me, the template should only contain the styles whether
paragraph or character styles that are need in every chapter created
using the template. When special styles are needed as in the case of
chapters describing macros, they should be added to just that chapter.

There is no reason to have those character styles in a document that

Howdy,

So, I was wrong about the extension using direct formatting with
regards to the extension 'Macro Formatter 4.1.1'. Using a fresh
document it did add a set of character styles and the uses those in
the formatting and colorizing process. (The only note to make here is
that it needs to have the default configuration or _OOoTextBody
changed for the paragraph style - I choose the standard Text Body and
it worked fine)

As for a second extension, 'Code Highlighter 1.6', this python
extension does not run properly in the latest versions of LO so I
could not answer the question of how it handles the document changes.

Best wishes,

Drew

[libreoffice-documentation] Question: Recording Changes vs Track Changes

2020-06-05 Thread Kevin Berry
I have a couple of questions about recording vs tracking changes.
What is the difference between going to File > Properties > Security >
Record Changes versus Edit > Track Changes > Record ?

Also, when I am on macOS, there is a check mark in the Edit menu that
clearly indicates when Edit > Track Changes > Record is active, whereas I
dont see that at all in Windows- havent tried it in Linux.

Also, another thing I noticed is that there is View > Track Changes, which
I have noticed is what makes the colored strike-through, which shows me the
changes that have been made.

So my question is: What is the difference between "Track Changes" and
"Record Changes", and what is "Record Changes" actually doing?

Thank you for catching that mistake. Yes, it is a 532, not 503.

I didnt see the =ERRORTYPE(cell-address) in the chapter- maybe I just

Hi Dan,

Thank you!

To answer your questions:

* Level of experience with LibreOffice: None, but excited to learn
* Knowledge of styles: To confirm, you are referring to formatting styles
e.g. heading styles, numbering styles? I am comfortable with using them in MS
Word documents to make them more navigable and easier to read, and in MS
PowerPoint to apply a consistent design across slides (colour and font theme,
Slide Master).
*   Operating system: Windows

Thank you for pointing me to the Writer Guide and highlighting that styles are
important. I will read up on it.

Welcome!

Others will give you the guidance that you need. What I would like to know is
what is your experience level in using LibreOffice. What is your knowledge of
styles in a text document? What operating system does your computer use? These
are some basic background questions that is helpful for us to know.

Personal example: I began nearly 20 years ago with little knowledge about the
program. I had a lot to learn, but I did. Learning to use styles is very
important for our work so I read the chapters on styles in the Writer Guide,
learning and applying them as I went. It is gratifying work. You can also.

Following up from the meeting yesterday.

Drew

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Template 7.x update

2020-06-05 Thread Peter Schofield
Hello Olivier

When I paste text into a bullet or numbered para, the para moves one indent to
the right, which is annoying.
My solution is to click on the bullet or number icon on the Formatting toolbar.
The para moves back to normal position for that level of bullet or number point.
This could be a bug, but I have not yet tested this in a blank Writer document
that does not use the LO template.

[libreoffice-documentation] Re: Calc Error Codes Rev 1

2020-06-05 Thread Steve Fanning

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for that. I have accepted most of the changes and placed the
updated file in the Draft folder, ready for second review.

I did not accept one of the changes (in Table 2) because I'm not sure
that it is correct. As far as I was aware, error 503 gives a #NUM! error
in the cell, not a #DIV/0! error (unless you've come across a
counterexample?).

Regards,

Steve

I have completed review1 of the error codes section, and placed it in
the feedback folder.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Template 7.x update

2020-06-05 Thread Peter Schofield
Hello

The bullet and numbered lists need a slight change only.

Space below paragraphs should be 0.15cm for all bullet and numbered points.
This spacing below paragraphs will make any bullet or number points appear
closer together making it easier to recognise a list.

Character used for bullet point in List 2 should be changed to an EN dash. This
will make more noticeable.

Numbering is fine using numeric for Number 1 and Alph for Number 2.
