Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Frame styles question and captioned image resizing.

2022-06-04 Thread Cor Nouws

Hi Olivier,

Applying a frame style to a graphic object in a text document does not
mean that all style properties listed in the frame style dialog are
applied.

In particular, the "anchoring", “keep ratio”, “auto size”, “relative
to”, “width” and “height” found in the Type tab of a frame style are not
applied to the object.

Which is rather confusing, unless it’s a bug.

Maybe I'm adding confusion, but it might also help understanding what
settings work in frame styles and what not..

I've experienced that when you create a custom object style from an
image/object that you gave some properties, there is no way to exclude
the width & height òr to make sure that the aspect ratio is preserved
when the style is applied to an object. Also changing the style's
definition in the xml-styles file, didn't help.

Cheers,
Cor

Oh yes, I can confirm that. File is corrupted. After downloading, an

All 305HvCLO65.. (Archive, Published) have the same problem. I tried to

Maybe Olivier, or Guilhem, or one of the other sysadmins can look at a

Is there any one with a local backup, still ok?

The old local installed 'built-in' Help, opens separate dialogs.
Usually, ESC closes a dialog, triggering Cancel. For the built-in Help,
that is not relevant. So ESC does not close the dialog. Neither does it
go up one level (assuming that is meant back to a previous visited page,
or up to chapter level from paragraph).

Unless someone else comes up with a description that makes sense and
adds something to the user experience (I can't remember using ESC in the
browser), I would suggest to leave that part out.

It just works fine, if you do the proper choices in the export dialog.
(But I see that you'll be update the Draw guide - that may help ;) ).
One thing, that happens to me now and then: when I do an export and
there is a single object (maybe empty) selected, while I choose to
export the selection (thinking of one page) there will be an 'empty' image.
But that is not an empty file. So something else went wrong on your side ;)

I understand that Leo sees the page

Can you help him to get access to Nextcloud too?

I do not see vpanter in the users list, when trying to add your name for
sharing LibreOffice Documentation.

Attached (for you) a screen print of the situation.
You do have basic acces to nextcloud.documentfoundation, do you?

Can you give me advice on the best basic approach for what is mentioned
in the report:
 "
1 - make (part of the) Help for classification global - it is
available in Writer, Calc and Impress
2 - distinct between the possibilities in Writer, Calc and Impress
 "

Maybe best to create four new files. One for the global info, and from
there point to the module specific ones (and vice versa)?

Is the best way to achieve that, putting it in Nextcloud/LOOL?

We have those resources:

I think also somehow linked from the download page.

As long as the builds are not marked as "release candidate" installing
won't replace your regular LibreOffice.

If you want to run more versions - and you should want that ;) - this
may help you

[libreoffice-documentation] updating Classification information

2018-10-21 Thread Cor Nouws
Hi,

Since the initial very useful Help has been composed, some more
functions have been added to Classification in LibreOffice.

I'm working on updating the Help. While at that, I see few parts in the
existing text that I would want to ask about.
I guess Olivier worked on most of the original text.. OK if I post about
that here?

It turns out to be the character style Index Link.
It is not easy to find that, since when the cursor is on the Index, and
Styles and Formatting shows Character Styles, Index Link is not
highlighted..
Only in the dialog Index, tab Content, clicking on the LA / LS markers,
shows the character style name in the dropdown.

Thanks for lending the idea ;) and making the cover!

Looks really bold and different compared to the older ones.
For my personal preference, I would appreciate more brightness. But that
is just a personal thing, I think.
What is the drawing down left doing :) ? I see it is from the splash
screen. As such, it looks a bit strange?
Maybe do the left side of the white area in the same angle as the black
one on top? And a tiny bit more white above/below the drawing, so make
it a little smaller?

Looking forward to the new guides!

The situation on Windows differs from that on Linux.
On Linux you need to choose the path under Tools > Options > LibreOffice
> Security. Either Thunderbird or Firefox is used.
On Windows the certificate is handled in the configuration of Windows
internet options.

It looks to me that when I open LibreOffice Help on Windows and search
for certification, on this specific point I see Help relevant to
Windows, and on Linux I see the Help for Linux.
So when you work on Windows for Linux documentation, or the other way
round, Help leaves you in the dark :)

Hope this helps,
Cor

If not, it is a change in behavior that should probably be
reflected in the Getting Started guide. Can anyone confirm this

On Linux I only see the Presentation tool bar besides the Standard tool bar.
I don't think that is different on Windows.
But you can check if by removing/backing up the current user profile and
start with a fresh one.

Sorry, Freek, but this is a widely-used approved term in the l10n

explain your thoughts to her?

Please use translation teams here or t9n teams, this is what the work
will be done/used for here. For the native lang teams, we should just
write it in complete words.

OK for me, but in fact NL teams is used often.
Problem with 'Nat' is, Freek, that it is about languages, and not about
nations/countries. This is a very important difference - lots of
discussions in the past - so avoiding misunderstanding about that is IMO
more important than avoiding the confusion for you, and me and others
for the Dutch NL-team.

Why should Freek contact me for this?

Maybe because of your experience (far more than me) with NL teams Sophie ;-)

There are no 'big guns' in the LibreOffice project as has been
discussed within the Steering Committee and on many other conference
calls. However there are too many localisation teams to discuss and
decide with every one regarding infrastructure, which would likely
result in duplication and un-coordinated systems.

I guess Martin is referring to the fact that localisation is the hart of
your international community. And there is no better way to make that

in-appropriate for their users/members.

(I do not yet have a judgement, I just express the existing concerns.)
