Hi jr, cd /mediasudo rsync -a home Backup It may be worth adding `H' to `-a' to make `-aH' in case there's lots of hard links. The extra space needed by not preserving them could cause problems. On the other hand, spotting the existing hard links takes time and space itself. Cheers,

hi Ralph, Without -c it relies on length and modification time to decide if the destination is out of date, IIRC.  And even with -c I've had occasion where it thinks nothing needs doing yet the SHA1 digests differ.  So I now use sha1sum(1) at the end to double-check. has not happened to me
