Aah - I apologise for my naivety on the BT FON system. That

For weeks she was unable to use Skype or make an intelligible Voip call.
Looking at my own BT Home Hub ( bought on e-bay for £25 ), I noticed I
had no BT-FON option activated.

I am a bit suprised by this since I am a fan of FON.
To explain, (if you did not already know)
BT broadband customers call allow other BT customers who are away from
home to use the seperate FON wifi signal from their router.
This is very useful when one is out and about.
