lug.org.uk doesn't offer search AFAIK, and the `full raw archive' link is the only way of downloading the whole archive. https://www.mail-archive.com/dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk/ allows searching of the public part of the archive. http://dorset.lug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=mailing_list has the background. If posts interesting to a third party are found in the still-private part of the mailing list then they'd have to subscribe to the list to read them. They could set their `nomail' flag on their Mailman subscription to avoid receiving emails.
