Re: [Dorset] Broadway meeting next week: event notification
Hi Folks, BTW, on IRC #dorset this morning Rory popped up to confirm the next meet was tonight. He seemed to be new to Linux and said he'd had problems downloading a Linux Mint ISO and burning it; some kind of corruption. He's thinking of buying one from somewhere. Unfortunately, he left before we found out if he wanted 32 or 64-bit. (Arrived before 8am!) Anyway, if anyone has a recentish live distro CD/DVD they no longer need, he might appreciate it. If not, we can point him at http://linuxemporium.co.uk/ or perhaps a magazine cover disk would suit him. (I've never tried them.) I have a Linux Format Cover DVD from February this year with Mint 14.0 on it, I have tried Live it on my PC and it works, although I didn't install from it. I'm perfectly happy to burn a copy of the disk, but I'm not sure how soon I can get it to Rory. Rory, let me know if you'd like a copy, talk to Ralph tonight if you're able to get there and he can put you in touch with me. -- Cheers Peter -- Next meeting: Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2013-06-04 20:00 Meets, Mailing list, IRC, LinkedIn, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread on mailing list: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk How to Report Bugs Effectively: http://goo.gl/4Xue

Re: [Dorset] Broadway meeting next week: event notification
Hi Victor, Thanks for spotting the problem. Does anyone else have a preference to try going somewhere else or would we rather take a chance on the Broadway as usual? I got the impression that even if they were to run this bingo thing it would not be too long lasting. I guess unless someone comes up with an alternative venue suggestion we stick with The Broadway given it's a few days away and target the snug? Terry, you back for this one? Cheers, Ralph. -- Next meeting: Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2013-06-04 20:00 Meets, Mailing list, IRC, LinkedIn, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread on mailing list: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk How to Report Bugs Effectively: http://goo.gl/4Xue
[Dorset] Broadway meeting next week: event notification
The Broadway seems to have changed management and has a new 'What's On' schedule displayed outside, which includes Card Bingo on Tuesdays. I went in tonight just after 8 to see what might be happening and it was the same as it usually is on a Tuesday. Had a word with the manager and he said they were intending to start some sort of event on Tuesday evenings (and on other evenings too, to try to bring in more business) but they were not doing it that night as some people he'd been expecting to come along had not turned up so he did not think there would be enough people interested. I did not take in the mechanics of the game but you can imagine the kind of thing. He did say that if we turned up next week and they did end up running the bingo thing they could turn off the speakers in the Snug. He did know about the Lie-nux user group :) Does anyone else have a preference to try going somewhere else or would we rather take a chance on the Broadway as usual? I got the impression that even if they were to run this bingo thing it would not be too long lasting. -- best regards, Victor Churchill, Bournemouth -- Next meeting: Bournemouth, Tuesday, 2013-06-04 20:00 Meets, Mailing list, IRC, LinkedIn, ... http://dorset.lug.org.uk/ New thread on mailing list: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk How to Report Bugs Effectively: http://goo.gl/4Xue
