Thanks Andrew. Libreoffice Draw does what I want well. Funny place to 
have put that capability though.


The reviews on PDFEdit make it sound a bit flaky still.

[Dorset] pdf editor

Can anyone suggest a good pdf editor? There is a pdf editor extension to 
OpenOffcie, but I can't find one for LibreOffice that I use. There is a 
note on the Internet about how to use Gimp for editing pdf documents, 
but not really full blown editing.

There's the pdfedit package containing http://pdfedit.cz/en/index.html.
And Inkscape might do a half-decent job of importing a PDF?
