Hello,
For mobile clients (gmail on Android), I need a server side searching
solution.
A few months ago, I tried getting Solr to work with Dovecot, but failed.
The instructions here
https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/fts/solr/ are quite out of
date, they reference Debian 8 and 9 (

Not necessarily. With Auth0, the IDP runs on Auth0's server.

Hello,
I am in the process of upgrading the OS on my mailserver, currently

The solr-jetty package does not appear to exist in Debian 11.
Does anyone know where it is?
Thanks

Hi,
I have Solr FTR working with dovecot, and need to do the commit and
optimize recommended here:
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/FTS/Solr
Should this run as root, or as each mail user. The documentation above
implies, but doesn't state,
that it is root. The docs here are similar:

I am trying to get Solr full text searching working on Debian 9 with

the binary for dovecot does not have solr enabled (--with-solr).

"dovecot-solr" can be used.
For Android K9-Mail does not really support server side search,
Aquamail does and for other mail clients I don't know.

Hello,
I am using dovecot as an imap server, mail is stored in mail directories.
Configuration is below.
One mail directory has about 14 Gb of mail in the inbox and .Sent

Searching from an Android phone with gmail is slow or doesn't work (it

Is there a configuratio

Hello,
I've done a fair amount of searching, and couldn't find a definitive answer.
I am moving my dovecot/postfix servers and mail in Maildir formats to a new
host.
When I move the Maildir directories, what should I do with the
dovecot.index/cache/log/etc. files?
I know I can filter them out,

Have you tried the new Thunderbird 3 beta? There was a thread
on this list recently about it. It has a lot of IMAP improvements.

2 things might help: 1, run ntpd in cron every 10 minutes or so.
That should avoid the startup issue. 2, sync your hardware
clock every time. That should keep your clock closer to
accurate.

Hi,
I was running the Ubuntu dovecot package until now, and decided to
upgrade because of an issue with Thunderbird. I downloaded and
compiled 1.0.8, and it's not starting up. The error I'm getting is:

Yes, if you don't have the mail_location variable set,
then Dovecot will look in
~/Maildir
/var/mail/username
~/mail
~/Mail
in that order.
