To rule out problem sources with XP or IE, I uninstalled IE and then downloaded and installed XP service pack 1.  After this I had to uninstall DQSD and reinstall.  Now DQSD works without problem.  Thanks to all who spent time studying the earlier question.   Bob Minnihan - Original Mess
