RE: [DQSD-Users] Win Key + S focus problems

The problem that was fixed is the need to hit Win+S twice. As for the F1 issue, I
don't know.

What problem got fixed? F1? I'm running beta 3.0.0.20 and I still have that problem.

I don't have that problem on my win2k SP2 box. I use Win Key +Z instead of S, auto
hide and two taskbars, one at the top of the screen and one at the bottom. quickbar's
on the top taskbar. When I press Win+Z I get quickbar into focus with the last co
mmand highlighted, if I press Win+Z again the cursor moves at the end of the line
ready to append.
However, F1 doesn't work for me, it starts the Win2k help file.

RE: [DQSD-Users] ie 5.5 apparently not needed?

2002-07-22 Thread Monty Scroggins

Installation noted that I'd need IE5.5 to use this properly. I only
have IE 5, but I use Mozilla 1.0 and everything (including the search
menu that's not supposed to work?) works very well. Perhaps there
should be a note that you can use this with other browsers too. Thanks
for the awesome power tool. btw, I was referred by joelonsoftware.com

I believe 5.5 is required to function properly as an application in
windows. this doesnt mean you need IE for performing the searches.. (I
dont use IE).. Any browser set to default should be spawned, unless the
preferences are set to behave otherwise..

Well, we've all got different takes on this, but I'm 90% certain that you
need a version of JScript later than that which ships with IE5 to support
everything used by DQSD.

It's entirely likely that some other application can upgrade this, so it
could well be that you can get IE5.5's JScript engine running on machines
without IE5.

You'd find that a clean install of something like W2K with IE5 would not
run DQSD without script errors.

Cheers,

Will

RE: [DQSD-Users] cyclical events in the calendar

2002-07-22 Thread MLL

Hi Monty,

"t", "FTE", "Fte"as event
name work fine.

Being a twisted mind :) , I tried
also "", it yields "Bad 'Event Name' specified.."

A trick to enter anu charcter if your keyboard doesn't
sport it :

- go to Start Accessories System tools (YMMV)
 Character table
- click onthe characteryou want = at
the bottom right of the window, you get Alt+code, for instance for
the code is 0191. Then just Type it, you get the character.

Just one thing : Event Names with accentuated characters (a, e,
etc...) give a "Bad 'Event Name' specified..", I think I have
fixed this but I dont know how to enter the accentuated characters into
the webpage for testing.. Different language/keymap/fontspec
required? Anyway if you could give it a try I would
appreciate it. It should only reject an event without at least
one word character, or one that contains the '' or ''
characters.. Monty As a
convenience to anyone who uses the calendar to note recurring
events, the link below could be included somewhere on the
webpage or the FAQ maybe. It is a quick and
dirty recurring events config file generator. Its only
of use to someone who watches for cyclical events
(like paydays etc).. If not enough
interest exists to include the link, thats fine too..

you can do this by typing /groups after your search term... examples...

If google is your default search:
 crest toothpaste /groups

If google is not your default search:
 gg crest toothpaste /groups

Hi Dave and everyone,

I'm really amazed at how great your whatchamacallit (got that from Joel

contribution

work fine for me but if you find any problem with it just email me and I'll
try to fix it. Otherwise I hope it gets included in the main distro.

Thanks for the superb software!

cheers,

[DQSD-Users] Google API Webservice: FreshStuff

2002-07-22 Thread Marshall Finkman

I wonder if someone could modify the gg search to include a /fresh switch
(or some such) that would divert to FreshStuff to do a Google search. Right
now it's set up for only four options (today, yesterday, seven days, one
month) so that would have to be passed. Maybe it would be best to take the
user's command line time parameter and convert it to the proper Google date
format.

In general, seems that these XML-RPC APIs could become a very interesting
aspect of DQSD.
