Yep.. that did the trick, Brent -- thanks.

I don't understand *why* that came up all of a sudden, but it's gone now,
thanks. :)

Hi Brian,

Try adding

var startupCommands = new String();

to your localprefs.js

and see if it goes away.

Thanks Shawn. Great. I think this will be useful big time, judging from all
those yahoo urls I should have a play and find out some goodies I am missing
:-)

Cheers, Tom.

[DQSD-Users] Error message after booting

2004-05-09 Thread Brian
Every time I boot my computer, I get the following dialog as DQSD is
initializing:

Line: 306
Char: 2
Error: 'startupCommands' is undefined
Code: 0
URL:file://C:\Program Files\Quick Search
Deskbar\search.htm

Continue running scripts on this page?
[Yes] [No]

(...or something pretty close to that -- I'm getting older all the time, and
my memory may be beginning to fail...)

Now, I've loaded up the specified file and examined it -- and I find no
trace of the word 'startupCommands' in that file, on line 306 or any other.

So, umm.. ?? what next?

"[Variables]:" was just to help organize my email message, that
shouldn't appear, only the actual "var (varname) = (value);". The
variable assignment line itself looks just fine.

Since you're not using (here anyway) a second profile, you only need
to use "yy" to run the search with that login/password combo and
target URL, however if you were to add the following to localprefs.js
as well:
  var ypad =
Array("mylogin","mypassword","http://notepad.yahoo.com/";);

And the following line to localaliases.txt:
  yn|yy ypad|Yahoo Notepad|Yahoo Notepad|Yahoo!

...then "yn" would open Yahoo Notepad ( http://notepad.yahoo.com/ )
after signing you into the Yahoo service.

Likewise, you could open any of the following Yahoo services using
similar notation:
http://www.yahoo.com/ - Yahoo!
http://address.yahoo.com - Address Book
http://alerts.yahoo.com - Alerts
http://ask.yahoo.com - Ask Yahoo!
http://auctions.yahoo.com - Auctions
http://bills.yahoo.com - Bill Pay
http://bookmarks.yahoo.com - Bookmarks
http://briefcase.yahoo.com - Briefcase
http://calendar.yahoo.com - Calendar
http://chat.yahoo.com - Chat
http://classifieds.yahoo.com - Classifieds
http://finance.yahoo.com - Finance
http://games.yahoo.com - Games
http://geocities.yahoo.com - GeoCities
http://groups.yahoo.com - Groups
http://hotjobs.yahoo.com - HotJobs
http://local.yahoo.com - Get Local
http://mail.yahoo.com - Mail
http://maps.yahoo.com - Maps and Driving Directions
http://messages.yahoo.com - Message Boards
http://movies.yahoo.com - Movies
http://my.yahoo.com - My Yahoo!
http://news.yahoo.com - News
http://notepad.yahoo.com - Notepad
http://photos.yahoo.com - Photos
http://shopping.yahoo.com - Shopping
http://sports.yahoo.com - Sports
http://weather.yahoo.com - Weather

That's not all, either, a more complete (yet still incomplete) list is
here:
  http://docs.yahoo.com/docs/family/more.html

I can't be alone in that I have more than one Yahoo account - and
between the one's I use two of my 'accounts' have at least three
profiles (I never use more than two, but they *are* there)... this
particular search was created with the sole objective of being able to
get me to login quickly to groups.yahoo.com with my 'main' account,
while being able to login to my 'briefcase' and 'my yahoo' from my new
SBC/Yahoo DSL account which has all those nifty bennies (like tons of
storage space and special news features).

I'm lovin' this search.

Shawn K. Hall

Sounds great Shawn. Could you provide an example of what to add to
localrefs.js & to localaliases.txt. I have tried various combinations but it
won't load the script.

For example I havce tried in Localprefs.js :

[Variables]:
var yyid = Array("mylogin","mypassword","http://groups.yahoo.com/";);

Thanks, Tom.
