Re: [DQSD-Users] IMdB issue

2010-03-01 Thread Kim Gräsman
Hi George,

On my Windows Vista with DQSD 4.1.0.0, typing

imdb harry potter and the sorcerer's stone

in my DQSD bar takes me straight to this page:
http://www.imdb.com/find?s=allq=harry+potter+and+the+sorcerer's+stone

Could you check the modification date of your imdb.xml in \Program
Files\Quick Search Deskbar\searches, and see if it's around July,
2008? There was a fix around that time, and I want to make sure you
have it.

Thanks,
- Kim

I am using Firefox 3.5.8 and DQSD 4.0.0.6

When I type in the search bar imdb movie name it no longer goes
directly to the movie but rather to the IMdB page where I have to retype
 the movie name.

In the past this worked as expected.  No longer.

As a aside (perhaps), when I click check for update ... , I get a pop up
window titled Internet Explorer which says Active input may harm your
computer ... are you sure you want to allow active content?     Firefox
is my default browser, IE is not.

 Thanks for any insights.

 George

Re: [DQSD-Users] IMdB issue

2010-03-01 Thread George Hitz

 Kim,

I did the UNinstall and ALL the files in /searches
 disappeared.

 I then downloaded and installed dqsd.exe v4.0.0.6
 from the dqsd.net website.

The same (old) imdb.xml is in that bundle and
does what it says to do, but isn't the right
"search" which as we know, should yield a
 specically called out movie.

While I created a one liner for localaliases that
works, I am not smart enough to edit the xml
file. Perhaps you can point me on what to
 modify.

 Thanks ! !

 George

Curious!

 Since I uninstalled and reinstalled dqsd.exe wouldn't
the newer XML file have installed?

It most definitely should, I'm not sure what could've gone wrong
there... Maybe if you picked up an imdb.xml manually from the list at
some point, and copied it into your install directory, then the
uninstaller might not delete it, since it differs from what the
installer put there. But that's just a theory.

I wonder if you could do the uninstall again, and then go back and
check which files remain in the searches directory. The entire
searches directory should disappear on uninstall, but if it doesn't,
you should be able to delete it manually.

Then re-install, and you would get all the latest searches.

Hope that helps,
- Kim
