DQSD works withIE7 beta3?

I have just started reloading my computer.Fresh OS and all and I installed DQSDwith IE6 and then I download IE7b3 and DQSD didn't work.

I got the same grayed out bar. What did you do to get DQSD to work with beta3?

Well dang. I never thought ofthat.I thought it wasn't working because when I installed DQSD on IE6 I got the yellow security bar when DQSD started so I put in the workaround.

Then when I installed IE7 Beta 3 and rebooted my computer the DQSD bar came up but was grayed out and there was no yellow security bar came up to tell me it was disabled.

So I assumed that it still wasn't working. But now I have reinstalled IE7 Beta 3. Put in the workaround and rebooted my computer and DQSD is now working fine.

Thanks for the help.

I have a theory that adding Maxthon and Avant might have something to do with it. On the description for Maxthon it says the explorer core(either 5 or 6 required)

So..I was thinking that if you loaded IE7b2 and then Maxthon and thenAvant. That might work I will test it out when I get time.

Well, I installed it and had been using it for a couple of days. Then I noticed that DQSD looked ok in the toolbar, so I tried it and it works. I can't explain why installing Avant Browser fixed this seems to have fixed this, but that's the only change I had made since installing XP SP2 and IE7 beta 2. When y'all had replied that DQSD wouldn't work with IE7 beta 2, I had downloaded IE6 SP1 to reinstall over IE7. Just hadn't gotten around to it yet. Maybe someone else can verify this? does disable some security features. I'm just curious if there is any
headway being made or not. It seems on the dev list (a thread with a title

a new DLL is going to fix this issue but no real explanation yet. I figured
since it had been 6 months since the last release there wasn't too much harm

Re: [DQSD-Users] Fix for XP SP2 Problem

2004-11-19 Thread Chuck Baker

I used the Registry workaround to take care of the SP2 problem and
everything seems to work. the calendar works for me. But I can't find any
the comx and racetv searches that are made referenced to in the posting
here and I have the most recent version of DQSD.

I also saw a post that was asking if the registry fix would disable blocking
in other IE windows. Well for me it still worked when opening a IE browser
window but that was a hassle for me to have it keep asking me if I wanted an
activeX control used so in internet options I just enable the activeX
controls and then I didn't get bothered with it.

If other people are having problems with functions not working after the
registry edit and you don't mind have activeX enabled you might try enabling
activeX through the internet options panel and see if that does anything for
you.

Monty and all,

 [calendar]

I was confused, there. I typed 'calendar', but I was thinking of the
help window. That's another dead feature, IIRC. The problem with that
is, the majority of code runs inside explorer.exe, so the registry fix
takes care of that, but the help window and some popup windows run
inside iexplore.exe unconditionally. So you would have to apply the
registry hack to iexplore.exe as well, and that doesn't feel so good.

 (has anyone tried the comx
or racetv searches which spawn an extra window to see if these
 searches
function with the change??) Kim I think I remember you had tried them
before, and they were ok.. I dont have those searches in place yet
since I am rebuilding my machine.

Neither of the searches with popup windows work, as far as I can tell,
because of the iexplore.exe issue. I've tried adding a mark-of-the-web,
but either I didn't do it right, or it just didn't work.

Part of the problem with popup windows is that they all use
convertStylesToInline, where they read the main document's stylesheet -
that's apparently ubiquitously disallowed in SP2. I tried omitting the
stylesheet copying, but then there was some other problem, etc, ad sleepium.

Kim

P.S. Should we move this over to the dev list? D.S.

Re: [DQSD-Users] Fix for XP SP2 Problem

2004-11-19 Thread Chuck Baker

 Thanks Monty,

I downloaded the comx and racetv searches and they both worked for me.
and my calendar works too. and I do have SP2 installed. so if other people
are having problems with these searches it is probably because activeX is
disabled by default in SP2. But you can enable activeX through the internet
options panel.

These are searches that have been added since the last release. You can
fetch them directly from CVS via -

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/dqsd/dqsd/searches/racetv.xml
and
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/dqsd/dqsd/searches/comx.xml

right-click on 'download' and do a 'save as' to fetch the file to your
machine..

[DQSD-Users] SP2 problem

2004-09-15 Thread Chuck Baker
Hi Everyone,

I am new to the list and I was researching a problem I had after installing SP2 on XP PRO and found the list here so I thought I would post and tell you of the fix that I found for the problem.

After installing SP2 and the latest .net framework updates I found that whenever I typed anything into the search field and hit enter instead of the default browser coming up my Microsoft Word would open and display the file "DQSDLaunch.html

I tried uninstall the toolbar and reinstalling and uninstalling and reinstalling Word but that didn't help. the only thing that worked was changing the launchmode in the DQSD configuration/ system preferences to 0

I put a report about this on sourceforge maybe someone can come up with a reason why this happened.Rev.
