I can help apply changes if somebody sends them to me.

svn diff output of changes would be great, but I can probably integrate
whole files if you can zip them up.

I saw some suggestions above, but I'm not sure if any of them are good to go
in?

Thanks,

The Windows 7/8 security hoops that are needed still apply for the
64 bit installation kit and are described in gory detail in the link
below.

Still looking at it with the most visible errors being no menu popup
or calendar popup as mentioned below.

What is interesting is that if I open the SEARCH.HTM manually in the
IE browser (skip through the initialization errors) the Calendar
popup will function. The options menu will not.

Is there any documentation on what functions the DLL is performing.
If the functions are hardcoded in the DLL it is a different type of
 problem to fix.

I was able to get the style loader to work again by granting 'users'
'full control' of the Quick Search Deskbar folder security rights.
The menu itself still doesn't appear, but at least it does do something.
This will really help re-styling it.

 jsx showpop();

I never update IE when a major version is released until they
resolve (or workaround) the horror stories that follow.
However, I've got bunches of friends and clients that do it anyway.
And they all lost DQSD this month.

Personally, I still live in DQSD 24/7. I've started using RoboForm,
Notepad++ and CintaNotes to better complement my routine - but i
  Notepad++ just
haven't found anything that works as well as DQSD for quick
searches and certain commands (like quicksort, posting the contents
of the clipboard to a webpage, guidgen and a couple others). Sure,
it has a few bugs in Win7x64, but it's still the most capable
system of its kind out there. Some of this I could automate through
Notepad++ or RoboForm, but I'll never get the ease of
operation that I have now with DQSD.

With IE11 - the style isn't pretty, but with the UA-Compat line
(Thanks, Brent!) and some significant edits I'm able to get it
closer to how it was. A long way to go.

For debugging, use this in DQSD:

  vbsx :document.body.outerHTML

That'll copy the currently rendered HTML for you so you can find
  anything that might be broken.

More issues and a couple fixes:

  * The focus hotkey doesn't work reliably.

To fix: enable the option to allow active content to run in files
on my computer in the IE advanced options.

  * Popup menu isn't available.

  jsx showpop();

  * Popup calendar doesn't load.
  * Sometimes 2 windows will appear when searching
  * Popup help doesn't load correctly

  No fix.

Well the 64-bit Windows 7 version has been working well
  for IE9 10 for
some time . The install only takes about 5 minutes of
  minor hoop-jumping to
  overcome Windows 7 security settings.

I just installed IE11 and. sure enough _javascript_
  errors. The "empty"
error in the Clocks.js script can be commented out to
  allow further testing
(otherwise you get an error every clock refresh!). Just
  search for "empty"
  in the Clocks.js file.

Once that is commented out the DQSD taskbar window becomes
  a
vertical/horizontal scroll window - sort of amusing.
  Then the taskbar can
  be stretched vertically for access.

Once that is done, the aliases will work. But if a "test"
  or "newegg.com"
or "some random search text" is entered then a "nodeValue"
  error is
  generated in Defer_tools.js.

I don't know Java so I have no idea why IE11 fails when
  IE10 works fine. Is
this some deprecated feature problem? Is IE11 trying for
  force use of
"newer" Java syntax? Anyway to force it NOT to do that?

Luv my DQSD I have not seen any IE11 "New"
  features/performance
  improvements I can't live without.

I know the DQSD java is old. Is there some "Java version"
  declaration
statement need to enable the older syntax to run as-is.
  In FORTRAN we could
always compile older code with a "version" switch to
  negate a re-write when
  using a newer compiler version.

Any Java gurus out there listening?

[DQSD-Users] DQSD Wizard on Win 7 / IE 9 ?

2012-03-06 Thread MLL
Hello folks,

I still use DQSD on a hourly (or maybe even minutely !) basis – how’s that for
a n about 10 years old utility ? :)

Now, I wanted to make a new search using Glenn’s Wizard
http://dqsd.net/searchwizard.htm for the first time since I switched to
Windows 7 / IE 9.

Problem is that upon installing dqsdwiz1.3.exe, it says that DQSD is not
installed, and then aborts installation. Same happens in compatibility mode.
And it happens on Win 7 32 bits as well as 64 bits.

Has anyone a clue ?

Cheers,

   Attached
are DQSD search XMLs for patents, published applications
 (to get an
advanced look at what patent applications are being
 filed), both by
keywords, and patents by patent number (I use this so much
   that # is the

 Hi all,

Thad Kerosky let me know that some changes to the
 DictionaryPop add-in were
getting old in CVS, so I managed to build a new release.

 DictionaryPop 0.3

 - Cleaned up HTML returned from web service to get rid of
 disclaimer, etc.;
 added note to change history
 - Improved Error response when DP can't connect to the
 server, possibly
 firewall preventing it.
 - Fixes DictionaryPop to use the newly renamed Extensio.com
 service instead
of the recently defunct MyBubble.com one.

 It's available from SourceForge:
 https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=42081p
 ackage_id=5736
 5release_id=206506

Happy new year (late this time),
 Kim

RE: [DQSD-Users] Revised 2004 - holidays.sg.xml

2004-01-05 Thread MLL
IMHO, the best of both world would be to pre-build the holidays files (with some smart
engine maybe somebody feels like building - I remember having built some stuff in
vba+xls to build the french one, can try to put a hand on it if somebody needs it-)
for the next, say, 20 years, and then include them in the installation executable.

2. after any change in dqsd's folders and subfolders, type ! in the textbox and
enter. rh2t should be here.

I also added a feature that the category names can be clicked

heehee.. I think you missed the sarcasm of phil-dqsds' post... The
person recommending the change to the whois search has a
 motive in spawning
 interest in the whois.sc site.

With some reason, for whois.sc is a pretty good, free service. Contrarily (does that
word only exist in english ?) to phil-dqsd, I think it's OK that a site owner
recommends his site to dqsd, if the service provided through the site is useful and
hence the dev team finds it relevant to include it in the next build (eg Lincoln
Jackson, from Lycos, who provided us some 9 months ago with ly).

On the other hand, I do not think that it's OK to change the whois search to have it
use whois.sc. Actually, I don't think that it's OK to name any search whois at all,
for this word can be considered a common word these days, and you all know the search
naming guidelines...

So I intend to rename whois it some other name soon (say, bwh), unless somebody
proves me I'm wrong.

MLL

P.S.: Shawn, you spend too much of your sleeping time improving DQSD. ;)

   Phil was just having some
 fun with it...

 Monty

...We could then send out bulk e-mails...

  Are you serious?

Bulk email is probably the most irresponsible thing the web has to
offer, and it could only damage DQSD's reputation.

When I see a website that I value or like the way searches
 function or
what the search capabilities offer I either write a search for DQSD
(most often) or I make an effort to contact the webmaster directly,
individually, and provide information about how to create a
 search for
DQSD to make their site more useable and gain the exposure to all of
the DQSD users. I recently carried on a discussion with the
 owners of
www.RegExLib.com which went close to these lines, where I convinced
them to make their site more DQSD friendly.

Chances are the webmaster simply doesn't know what DQSD is or how to
make their forms more DQSD-friendly, or that even with 'support' for
DQSD that the user will STILL visit their site - and they will NOT
lose whatever advertising revenue they would otherwise have gained.
This last point is the one that has changed more minds than any
others. Be sure to explain to them that the results will
 STILL be seen
on their site, not through any tool locally that would
 strip out their
advertising, so their ad revenue will not decrease, but their
immediate potential audience *will* grow to all users of
 DQSD. I have
no idea how many people this is, but imagine it could sway most
  webmasters.

 Dave,
Not sure if you follow the whois area but www.whois.sc is the
 best whois then betterwhois.com

I can only agree. Even more : IMO, www.whois.sc is the best whois et al. tool these
days on the net.

You should remap the whois command to www.whois.sc

Actually, it's already here : try whsc (but may be not yet in the last build, if so
go to http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/dqsd/dqsd/searches/ and pick whsc.xml and
put it into dqsd install directory\searches\)

MLL

 Example:

 whois sourceforge.net
 That would be
 www.whois.sc/sourceforge.net

I think you will find the whois records more useful at whois.sc!

 to different
URL's within a single xml file, but they would all have to be
 initiated from
 a single search..

There are a couple of searches that, depending on the
 switches used, post to
different URLs.. I remember seeing them but dont remember
 which ones they
 are...

For instance : jsref and msk

There was an issue with the tucows search I contributed,
 causing it to
appear in it's own category (Computers/Software), rather than in the
Software sub-category of Computers. The problem has been fixed in the
 update attached.

We did this once before and it was pretty
successful. So I'm trying it again. I'd like to know of some cool
tricks you may have to use aliases. Here are some of the entries I have
  in my localaliases.txt file.
  dos|run cmd|DOS Prompt ss|run scrnsave.scr|Screen Saver control|run control|Control Panel
I loved this one that came with the install
  word|run winword|Microsoft Word|Start Microsoft
  Word|Microsoft Office
So I included the other Office Progs I use.
  excel|run excel|Microsoft Excel|Start Microsoft
  Excel|Microsoft Office access|run
  msaccess|Microsoft Access|Start Microsoft Access|Microsoft Office
  Other ideas anyone?
You can use any screen saver you like, you just
need to refer to the correct .scr file.

After spending some time looking for an excuse to try out the
   Dave's Quick
Search Deskbar Search Wizard (Verdict: very cool!) i
 decided to build a
search for the online perldoc repository (located at
http://www.perldoc.com/ not surprisingly.) Which allows you to
  search the
built in functions in Perl by version number, something
 which saves me
having a bundle of different documentation packages
 installed on all my
   machines.

In the doc examples I've shown something i thought would save a
  couple of
keystrokes, the version number can be anything from a verbose
  /perl5.6.0
to a terse and more perlish /56

I've attached a working draft of the search but i have a couple of
   questions for the list:

   1. Should this kind of search live in the Computers-programming
   section or
the Computer-reference section? The existing language
  references (PHP and
Javascript) live in programming so I've done the same but
 i thought i
   should ask.

install that contains a few main 'template' selections for
   U.S., France, Canada and U.K.

Most of the US and other English searches are still very
useful for non-US users, but not necessarily the other way
around, so it may be hard to filter out which searches go where.
Given how relatively easy it is to add/remove searches, I'm
not sure there's any major benefit to modifying the
  installation procedure.

But a central place to share searches for easy download and
install would be cool. Then you could ship the most central
overall-usable searches as part of the installation, and make
  the others available for download.

A question though... if the user selects not
to install a search, should we 1. not install it or 2.
  install it but
   disable it?

Why would it be installed, if users say they don't need it? I
haven't looked into the architecture much, but there's no
  inter-dependency between searches, is there?

  Cheers,
  Kim

it just web? I know windows has its own find and search but this would b handy for a

 Subject: [DQSD-Users] A few things i can't get going..

I just recently discovered DQSD, ive been looking for
 something like this
for a while after converting back from Litestep, its got so much of
 everything i want! its GREAT!

ive just got a couple questions..

 1. setting the focus hot key to ALT ~
 ive tried setting :
 hotkeyModifiers=ALT;
 hotkeyCharacter = `;

 hotkeyModifiers=ALT;
 hotkeyCharacter = ~;

but neither work.. is there a way?

 2. Is it possible to run multiple applications from alias shortcut.
ie: run multiple web pages, or multiple programs from one alias?

Multi does this in a cool way.

 3. Have a program run rom its directory.
ie: if i run quake3 from an alias, it won't load because the
 game because
the quake3.exe isn't being run from the quake3 directory, (if
 you get what
i mean?) (i can get the alias to point at a shortcut, but
 this brings me to
 my next question)

 4. is it possible, to set up an alias with 'non-required switches'
 ie: if i want to load quake3 with a map i type quake3 +map
 q3tourney2
but if i set up the alias with quake3.exe %s I HAVE to
 enter a switch or
 DQSD returns an error

For 3 4 maybe you should make a batch file (say, quake3.bat) like this :

c:
cd c:\program files\quake (or whatever)
if %1=null goto noopt
start quake3.exe %1
goto end
:noopt
start quake3.exe
:end

...and then make an alias such as :

quake3|c:\quake3.bat %s

I guess it should solve point 3, and allow for options. As you says DQSD doesnt accept
%s= (weird... are you sure ?), a workaround is to type quake3 null (thanks to line
3 of batch file)

 5.Autocomplete button?
im trying to type c:\gaTAB to do an auto complete to C:\games\
but when i press TAB it moves to the next thing on my
 taskbar, ive set:

 autocomplete = true;
 multiline= false;

is there an different autocomplete button? or am i doing
 something else wrong?

IIRC, autocomplete doen't really work (unfortunately). And if it did, I guess it
wouldn't work the way the execute box in Win2K WinXP does (by guessing a path),
but rather by recalling a previous command entered in DQSD.

HTH,

MLL

 John

 Subject: [DQSD-Users] Amazon search

Here is a suggestion for an enhancement of the amazon search.
It always bothered me that it only searches in the .com shop,
 while I want
to search in the .de shop most of the time. So in the past I
 just modified
the source of the search directly, which just isn't really
 satisfactory.
Well, to make long story short, I have added an option to the
 amazon search
which is called /domain and it takes as an argument a
 specific amazon domain
 to search in.
Currently, the following domains can be specified: com de uk
 jp ca fr where
com is the default, so if you use the search as before, it
 should behave
 exactly the same.
Anyway, with this switch, I was able to make a handy alias like:
 amazde|amaz %s /domain:de
No more editing of the source code :)

I have noticed, however, that the other domains don't really
 support the
mode-parameters (dvd, vhs, ...) like the com-domain, so the
 other switches
will probably only make sense for .com

I have also taken the liberty of refactoring the search to
 remove some code
 duplication :)

 Find it attached

 Thanks,
 Wolfgang

RE: [DQSD-Users] Ebuyer search add-on

2002-10-23 Thread MLL
Hi Matt,

Thanks for contributing. Your slightly edited 3 searches will be in the next release
(mainly, an erroneous type=invisible, and the use of nullargs function, so that
ebuy? returns a help message). Also, math was renamed mathref to prevent common names
from appearing as searches.

You can see them at :

When IE is maximized I can't get focus on dqsd no matter how I try, with WIN+S or with
mouse clicks. I seem to remember someone else had the same problem. The only fix is to
minimize or normalize IE, then WIN+S and mouse clicks work as expected.
If anyone is working on a patch I can help test it on my machine: Win2k SP2, IE 6.0,
latest official dqsd.
By the way, does dqsd have problems with Win2k SP3? Should I try to upgrade that one
first?

Hey, Monty skipped this point, while I think it's a very
interesting one !! Actually, It's one of the 3 reasons why I
still have the Google bar ..
 snip

Yeah I skipped this one because there was some discussion on
 it a few weeks
 back..

Sorry, my mailbox bounced this summer, so I skipped this topic.

I tried to raise a question whether highlighting
 search text would
even apply to a large amount of searches withing DQSD.
If you're searching for text withing a page like from google
 for example, it
makes sense to highlight the text for easy recognition. But
 DQSD isnt
doing that kind of thing. It is submitting parameters to
 specific websites
for a specific outcome.. Some of the news searches could
 benefit from the
text highlighting, but if I call the dictionary.com search
 (ie dic lexical),
I will soon be looking at the results of the specific lookup.
  It doesn't do
me any good to see the search string highlighted on the
 output page, which
is already specific to the search I executed.

Agreed, but this could be an option, global or per-search. Sarah described it quite
well at her feature request at
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailatid=432069aid=616368group_id=42081

Will, our Windows Guru, said it would be hard, but not impossible.

RE: [DQSD-Users] bug with ac

2002-09-20 Thread MLL

Hi Tom,

Experienced the same in the past with Gozilla. This isn't linked to DQSD. Try to cut'n
paste the URL you provided to IE's address field, you should see FreshDownload act the
same. It kinda brainlessly pops up because it believes you're downloading an exe,
while it's a server-side app that just queries a database and makes an html file with
the results.

You should either disable FreshDownload or have a look at it options, looking for some
exception list to which you could add .EXEs, or all stuff from getzips.com.

Thanks Paul for the tip - Crazybrowser seems very convenient. I'm using it as my

I'm on the very same setup as you (W2K SP3, IE6 SP1), and got to have DQSD work with
it. First, do what Gelnn's URL says to have CB as default browser. Second, put the
following line into DQSD's localprefs.js :

 Paul,

I'm guessing that IE has made itself the default browser
 again. It looks
like there's an option in CB
 (http://www.crazybrowser.com/faq.htm) to reset
it as the default browser. If that doesn't work, Monty
 posted a message not

 Glenn

  I recently installed SP1 for MSIE6 (W2K SP3) and DQSD no
 longer sees Crazy
  Browser as the default (Crazy Browser is an add-on for IE;
 tabbed windows
like Mozilla, popup supression, etc.). Prior to the SP1
 installation but
after the SP3, all was fine. is there some kind of change in the
  IE service

How do I get dqsd to start with a windows startup?

DQSD does load at windows startup, if you followed the instructions given by the setup
program, that allows you to place it in your taskbar once and for all (see attached
picture).

And then once it is started how to make it available with the
 address bar
visible rather than having to drag it from an area which only says
 search (in the taskbar).

With dqsd 1.3.0 I get an error message DOSP helper .dll is
 not properly installed .

Indeed, it seems it is. I'd do this to make sure it deinstalls / reinstalls fine :

1. uninstall DQSD
2. reboot
3. Delete directory C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar
4. install DQSD and follow the instructions.

First feedback : maybe you should include a more complete
skeleton for the description field. Something like :

description
Type your description here.br/
  div class=helpboxDescLabelsExample:/div
  table class=helpboxDescTable
trtdtype your example here/td/tr
  /table
/description
...so that we use the right styles / layout.

Good idea. I'll put that in for the next release.

Worked perfectly for the -simple- search I'm about to upload

obsolete manual parsing of HTML to check that the right form
   is selected.

  Cool.

Changes for version 0.7 (beta) 9-Sep-2002

* Added option for mutually exclusive switches which changes gen'd code for
parsing switches. (If this option is selected, the generated code will only
examine the first switch. If not selected, then the code will examine all the
switches.)
* Added feature to highlight selected FORM with user-configurable color/border.
This works most of the time, but in cases where it doesn't work there is already
a border/background specified for the FORM that can't be overridden. Change the
CSS styles for border and background-color in the options.)
* Added button to show/hide HTML of selected FORM. This display is arguably a
waste of screen space with recent enhancements (auto-selection of active FORM,
highlighting selected FORM). It's still there, but just off by default.
* Fixed indentation of 'break' in generated code.

I upgraded, but can't reboot for some time. Tried alternatives :
logoff/logon, kill all instances of explorer.exe, but no avail.
Is there any tricky way of the new search wizard to be
  incorporated into IE ?

 - Shutdown all instances of IE
 - In the Search Wizard subdirectory, rename DQSDSearchWiz.dll to
 DQSDSearchWiz.dll.old
 - Rename DQSDSearchWiz.dll.ins to DQSDSearchWiz.dll
 - regsvr32 DQSDSearchWiz.dll
 - Start IE and the version of the wizard should be the latest

First feedback : maybe you should include a more complete
skeleton for the description field. Something like :

   description
   Type your description here.br/
 div class=helpboxDescLabelsExample:/div
 table class=helpboxDescTable
   trtdtype your example here/td/tr
 /table
   /description
...so that we use the right styles / layout.

Good idea. I'll put that in for the next release.

Worked perfectly for the -simple- search I'm about to upload
to CVS, BTW. The highlighting is very convenient, and indeed
obsolete manual parsing of HTML to check that the right form
  is selected.

 Cool.

 Later,
 Glenn

 Hi Glenn,

I've been using it : it wroks fine !

 3 comments :

 - the indentation for the created break lines is wrong
(they're 5 chars ahead of the case instead of 2)

 - it would be great, if possible, to have some editing
functions in the textbox titled HTML for selected FORM,
such as searching, replacing, maybe deleting typing, or
-let's dream- syntax colouring. What do you think ?

 - i tried to set 2 switches : 1 and 2. DQSD produces this :
   //var args = parseArgs(q, 1, 2);
   //if ( args.switches.length  0 )
   //{
   //  switch( args.switches[0].name )

is it on purpose ? Shouldn't it indroduce some loop like this one :
 for( var j=0; jargs.switches.length; j++ )
 {
   switch( args.switches[j].name )
(and it works in all cases, even if j == 0) ?

I don't have that problem on my win2k SP2 box. I use Win Key +Z instead of S, auto
hide and two taskbars, one at the top of the screen and one at the bottom. quickbar's
on the top taskbar. When I press Win+Z I get quickbar into focus with the last co

ready to append.
However, F1 doesn't work for me, it starts the Win2k help file.

RE: [DQSD-Users] cyclical events in the calendar

Hi Monty,

"t", "FTE", "Fte"as event
name work fine.

Being a twisted mind :) , I tried
also "", it yields "Bad 'Event Name' specified.."

A trick to enter anu charcter if your keyboard doesn't
sport it :

- go to Start Accessories System tools (YMMV)
 Character table
- click onthe characteryou want = at
the bottom right of the window, you get Alt+code, for instance for
the code is 0191. Then just Type it, you get the character.

Personal Well, this is fun !
Just one thing : Event Names with accentuated characters (a, e,
etc...) give a "Bad 'Event Name' specified..", I think I have
fixed this but I dont know how to enter the accentuated characters into
the webpage for testing.. Different language/keymap/fontspec
required? Anyway if you could give it a try I would
appreciate it. It should only reject an event without at least
one word character, or one that contains the '' or ''
characters.. Monty As a
convenience to anyone who uses the calendar to note recurring
events, the link below could be included somewhere on the
webpage or the FAQ maybe. It is a quick and
dirty recurring events config file generator. Its only
of use to someone who watches for cyclical events
(like paydays etc).. If not enough
interest exists to include the link, thats fine too..

 Hello all,

Another hint for javascript error hunters : I modified so.xml
(attached), making an error (missing = in line 22). From
then on, when I typed ! in DQSB, I got a JS syntax error on
line 169 in *search.htm*. Later on, whenever I started a
search, I got 'undefined' is null or is not an object on
 line 146, still in search.htm.

So errors in search.htm may be caused by bad xml search files.

 Cheers,

Oh, thanks

Now this works !
One small drawback : my personal firewall tells me explorer.exe (*not*

foreseeable actually, but is there any way to change this to iexplore.exe, which

This first example has been cleaned up, and it should
be pretty easy to duplicate for other add-ons. Here's the install
  kit...
  http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=42081release_id=92883

Any more thoughts on whether this whole add-on thing makes sense?
Makes a lot of sense for me. The
Googlespellfunction may not "have general
appeal", but it shows the way to access many
interestingweb services (existing or yet to come)that use APIs.
IMO

open history.txt and empty it. depending on what you want to
 clear you may
want to do the same with mrumenu.txt. alternatively you
 could delete these
files as i think DQSD will recreate them as necessary. i
 usually just open
the files and remove the entries i want cleared.

Thanks John, but I meant, is there an incorporated command to achieve this (say, a
popup menu command, or some clearMRU command...) ?

The parse is bailing on the ampersand () in the comment. Change the
ampersand to ' and ' (or whatever). Also, the input tags
 aren't closed.
Change them to input ... / and it will parse.

OK

An easy way to check this is to open the .XML file in IE. It
 will usually
show any problems and where they problem is.

Great tip, thank you Glenn ! Now googletrans.xml is fully functional (see attached
file).

Now I'd like to have hello world en-fr to use it, but this requires to play with
tranlate.js. Right ?

 Hi,

Attached is googletrans.xml, a search made just the same way
 as freetrans,
 but that uses google translations.

Upon loading it, QSB gives this pop-up error box : Unable to
 load search
from searches\googletrans.xml: no white space allowed there

Could somebody dive into googletrans.xml and tell me what's
 wrong (I have no
 clue) ?

the following entries in localaliases.txt should do it...

 clrmru|run cmd /C del C:\Program Files\Quick Search
 Deskbar\mrumenu.txt|Clear MRU Menu
 clrhist|run cmd /C del C:\Program Files\Quick Search
 Deskbar\history.txt|Clear History

Yes they do, provided you change the path to where DQSB is actually installed
(E:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar for me). Save one thing : the history stays
in memory until you reload with a !.

[DQSD-Users] Paste in the textbox

2002-06-03 Thread MLL

Hi,

Here's a problem I've got :

1. click on the DQSB textbox (last search string get highlighted)
2. ctrl+V paste (new text replaces the former, nothing being highlighted)
3. type something, its appears *before* the just-pasted text, instead of after in
standard Windows behaviour

So, is it on purpose, or a bug ?

Cheers,

MLL

FWIW, i think you are on to something Glenn. the question
 then becomes, how
do other apps allow extensions/plug-ins? does anyone know
 how x-teq x-setup
 does it? (www.xteq.com)

They are basically only a file containing a script in X-setup's language. Something
more elaborate is, IIRC, Winamp's plug-ins : you double-click them (they have a
special file extension, registered by Winamp), and they get unzipped and all necessary
stuff gets done also.

Subject: [DQSD-Users] SourceForge - difficult to use 2 emails

On the subject of the dqsd lists transition to SourceForge
I can't figure out a good way to use multiple emails with SourceForge.
I have two email addresses, one for work and one for home. At work I
receive both in Outlook, but at home I can only pick up my home mail.
So I subscribe to dqsd listserves at home, and I can read it at home and
 at work.

But here's where SourceForge fails. At work, unless I jump through
hoops, I can only SEND from my work address. With Yahoo listserves,
this worked fine because you can register multiple email addresses to
send from. But SourceForge only allows you to send from the email you
subscribed with. As a result, I can't really send to the dqsd
SourceForge lists at work. I certainly don't want to subscribe at work
also, and receive every message twice!

Have any of you solved this issue?
 -Dan
