RE: [DQSD-Users] COMX.XML - missing Joy of Tech User Friendly (again)

2006-03-26 Thread Kim Gräsman
Hey Monty,

This version also contains a change to open a new window
directly without using an html file.

I'm no regular comx user, but I tried it out to see if it worked even in
non-admin scenarios (not sure why it wouldn't).
Anyway, it seems to work fine, at least for Calvin and Hobbes...

Nice job!

- Kim

2006-03-26 Thread Monty Scroggins

Hey Brent..

I hear ya.. I worried about that.. I use Firefox exclusively...I
just thought it might be a little quicker to display the comics with a
trimmed down featureless window (since IE is already running via the OS).

When you say make it optional, do you mean an option on the command
line? or do you mean to set a variable in a config somewhere?

I am happy to implement such a thing..

Hi Monty,

I'm using Firefox with tabs and I like the old
behavior because it would show up in a tab. This new
way opens up a new window in IE - ick!!! I don't like
IE and I don't like new windows popping up all over my
screen.

Thanks,

Brent

I added the /nopopup switch that can be used to tell dqsd to write to a
file and open in the default browser.

Please give it a go..

Re: [DQSD-Users] COMX.XML - missing Joy of Tech User Friendly (again)

2006-03-26 Thread Steve Poirier

Maybe it has something to do with comics pulled from ucomics.com. Try viewing 'Dick Tracy' using both of the following methods to see if they work:

comx /dicktracy
or
comx /dicktracy/nopopup

If neither work, try clearing your browser cache and try again.

Re: [DQSD-Users] COMX.XML - missing Joy of Tech User Friendly (again)

2006-03-26 Thread Monty Scroggins

It sounds like it is running an old comx.xml, or you have the URL
cached. This behavior is what you will get when the pattern matching
fails to find the string in the destination website.. (which is what
was happening after forbetter was removed from comics.com)..

After you get the blank window, do a view source on the page and see
what the url is for the image.. I suspect it might be trying to go to
comics.com..

RE: [DQSD-Users] COMX.XML - missing Joy of Tech User Friendly (again)

2006-03-26 Thread Charlie Russel
You're right, it's going against comics.com. But I've cleared the
browser cache (both 32bit and 64bit ie), and definitely replaced the
comx.xml. And reloaded with !, of course. And via the menu. And I'm
even getting the popup, so that's a sure sign it's not the original
comx.xml.

I'm going to do a reboot in a few minutes.

Charlie.

[DQSD-Users] COMX.XML - missing Joy of Tech User Friendly (again)

2006-03-25 Thread Brian

Hi all...

I (finally) got around to refreshing things on the computer... Installed
the new(er) mwd.xml to get the popup feature (nice!) and the newest comx.xml
to get the editorial cartoons and to get Calvin and Hobbes working again --
unfortunately, it looks like somewhere along the chain, Joy of Tech and User
Friendly got dropped (again) from the xml file. Is it possible to get those
back in the lineup?

a try .. If it is ok I will check it in..

I guess it's been a while, eh?

Hmm... I guess that means I'm the only one reading those two comics via
DQSD ?

Anyway.. The 'fix' works wonderfully; greatly appreciate your help!
