RE: [DQSD-Users] 64-bit version?
Yes, Windows XP Professional x64 is backwards compatible with most 32 bit programs, running in WOW64. However, there are certain things that don't work -- things like DQSD that runs an ActiveX component on the desktop. Or anything that requires a driver - all drivers must be 64 bit. And a few other oddities, but the vast majority of 32-bit programs work just fine. Unfortunately, the 32-bit program in question, DQSD, is one of those few that doesn't. Maybe the re-write that is intended to handle the SP2 issues will also resolve this, I don't know. But I hope someone is checking! Is the x64 XP not backward compatible with x32 programs? Just curious.. [DQSD-Users] 64-bit version?
With the pending release of the x64 version of Windows XP and Server 2003, is there any chance of a version of DQSD that will run on x64 Windows? I confess, I'm not willing to move to x64 Windows as my primary workstation until I have DQSD working there. --- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
