Hi Steve,
Hmm... That's odd. Did you run Process Explorer to see that the old
DQSDTools was all gone?
I really see no reason for Backspace to give up unless you have some
sort of conflict. What's your OS?
Thanks,
- Kim

Cleaned all the 3.1.9.2 out. Removed all instances of

Installed 4.0 RC - Backspace key still doesn't work.
Falling back to 3.1.9.2

Yes I had this version installed.

I uninstalled everything except local aliases and
preferences.
Rebooted and installed RC3.
I have fallen back to 3.1.9.2 - backspace works fine
now so it's
definitely DQSD RC3
Thanks for the detailed info! What we've seen is, when
uninstalling,
sometimes the DQSDTools.dll doesn't get properly
unregistered and removed,
and we're not sure why.
The 3.1.9.2 DQSDTools keyboard handling conflicts with
the new, improved,
Vista-friendly (I hope) 4.0 keyboard handling, so it
would appear not to
work.
If you feel up for it, it would be great if you could
try uninstalling
again, and then force-fully removing DQSDTools.dll (it
will probably still
be there and locked after uninstall, but you can
rename it and reboot, and
it should no longer be loaded by Explorer).
Then install the 4.0 RC and see what happens.
Before going through that, you could use Process
Explorer [1] to see which
DQSDTools.dll is loaded (Find - Find Handle or
DLL..., and search for
DQSDTools.dll), check where the path points and check
the version of the
loaded DLL (Right-click, Properties, Version tab.) It
should be 4.0.0.3 or
at least starting with 4.
Hope that helps,
- Kim
