Here is a link for the AC-4 that also shows the way to check the voltages. http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/TechTips/ PowerSupplyTroubleshooting.htm Al, n7ioh On Mar 24, 2010, at 10:45 AM, Garey Barrell wrote: Franco - The AC-4 is rated for 120 / 240 @ 50 / 60 Hz. You should che

Franco - The AC-4 is rated for 120 / 240 @ 50 / 60 Hz. You should check the output voltages from the supply to see if that is the problem. You should see about 740 VDC on the HV supply, 300 VDC on the LV supply, ~ -50 to -100 VDC BIAS, and ~ 14VAC on the Filament line, ALL NO LOAD. Shortin

Franco - The problem is that the SIDETONE out of the T-4X series of transmitters is High Impedance, and the 2-C does not have a Hi-Z input for it. So you have to "step down" the impedance to speaker voice coil impedance and connect it directly to the speaker. The AF output of the 2-C is ALS

Frank, Don't forget that the transformer in the AC-4 was also designed for 60 Hz, rather then 50. As I learned years ago when testing power supply specs, the frequency change causes the transformer to be less efficient - it also runs much hotter. Steve, W1ES _

Hello Friends, It could be a problem of language but I cannot quite understand "FIG.3 CONNECTING THE T-4XB TO A RECEIVER OTHER THAN THE R-4". In this figure it is shown a 2-C with the speaker output connected to the speaker and the antivox cable from the antivox sidetone output of the T-$XB to a i

Hello friends, My AC-4 is wired for 240 VAC. However in Italy we have 220 VAC. My T-4XB loads correctly as I see It draws about 0.3A or a bit more, and I see about 90 Watts in the tune mode and about 110 Watts in CW key-down (average power) on the 20 meters band. I know that in USA a T-4XB is ab
