when you finally decided to replace it, you MAY NOT have one, otherwise.
Hope it worked this time!! Getting old and forgetful stinks!

Steve,
The clips can be reshaped to allow the shield to snap in place and be held
securely against the PTO frame. You have to put the curve back into them.
They can sometimes be flattened out too much.

Thanks to Garey k4oah who suggested I install a 1 Meg resistor to one of
my multimeter probes. Voltage at V3 pin 1 now reads -9 volts. That's
terrific. I will have to drag out my HP410C and see if it still works. Many

If the receiver is 'working', I believe your problem is with your meter,
not the receiver. You are probably using a DMM with wire leads. The
voltages in the manual were measured with a VTVM, which had a 1M
resistor AT THE PROBE TIP to decouple the lead from the measurement
point. W

I've used an Edsyn Soldapullt" Model DS017 with good success for so

Hi to the group. I have just finished refurbishing my 4th R-4B. I have
done the basic work like inspecting all mechanical and electrical connections
for security, tested the tubes and reseated them, checked and cleaned the
switches, and measuring the resistance and voltages at the tubes per
Peterson Crystal does not come up on googlebut I just ordered 2-
R-4B crystals from
International in FL and they were $20.95 each.
Works for me.

I thought I saw an email recently saying that Peterson Crystal, the original
makers of the Drake crystals was still in business. I don't have contact
info. Then, there is always our good old International Crystal right close

The problem I seem to have is that it's loose on one side. The clip's not
broken but it obviously must be deformed.
When I get some time (and the ambition to pull it out of its place on the
operating desk) I'm going to try playing with the clip.

OK, that is "probably" your 2 MHz offset problem. The 3V you are
seeing on Pin 13 seems high. Typically CMOS should be less than 1.5 for
a low, and greater than 3.5 for a high, so the problem might track back
to U207. ICs can fail such that the OUTPUT is unable to pull an INPUT
low
