I think Ron and Lee's suggestion is the answer. I tweaked the needle ever so slightly where the needle takes a 90 degree bend. I was able to put it dead nuts on. The needle looks straight as a pin. Now that I think of it I had a catastrophic 6JB6 failure some time ago which most likely caused

[Drakelist] Strange serial number

Dear Fellow Drake Addicts, I have come across a T-4X, which appears to be one of the latest of its kind. From the lower side, it looks exactly like T-4XB, but the filters are grey T-4X filters. The final cage is also black and the front panel is of regular T-4X, except for the main tuning

John - Yeah, that'll do it!! :-) It IS interesting the way that bar in the back is mounted between those two rivets. It's possible it's a bias magnet of some sort, and then they lacquer it in place at manufacture. Important thing is, it's working!!! :-) 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA

Kihwal, I have several of the older Drakes that where upgraded to the B-Line style knob, its not hard to do nor is it rare to see. Drake sold lots of newer knobs to be installed on earlier equipment. The snap rings simply slides over the PTO shaft and can be placed anywhere. I have converted

Hi Gary, Yup. It could have been installed by the owner. But being very near the end of the T-4X production run and based on the fact that it was converted from T-4 to T-4X right before the introduction of T-4XB, I wouldn't be surprised even if some of T-4XB parts were used in the
