I had the same problem with a T4XB awhile back. The problem was a dirty wiper
of the XTALS switch. Cleaned with DEOXIT and all was well.

Since my B-line has been operational, I started on refurbing the C-line,
starting with the T4XC AC-4. I installed another of Paul's upgrade kits in
the AC-4. Cleaned up the T4XC and looked everything over.

I picked my first B-line yesterday from it's original owner. Was very dusty but

In checking out the R4B I found a charred resistor. I ordered Garey's B-line CD

I have suspected for a number of years that the plate meter in my L4 was
reading a bit low. Today I had the amp opened up to make a minor repair and I
decided to check. Using a variable power supply, a series resistor, and a DMM
in series, I've determined that the L4 meter does indeed read a

I recently picked up an L4B that needs some work. For some reason, a previous
owner had removed the 6:1 vernier on the plate tuning cap.
Needless to say, I'm looking for one to re-install on the plate tuning control.
I do have the red pointer so all I need is the vernier.

I remember some discussion about this in the past but can't find the link.
Is anyone presently make replacement front panels?
I might need one for an L4B.

A timely question about the L4/L7 bleeder resistors. I recently had an issue
with one of my L4PS supplies. It turned out to be a bad cap which I replaced.
I'm going to install a Heathkit Shop board eventually but I wanted to get the

While I don't use my L4 on AM, I do use it for contesting. I use two muffin
fans sitting on the top of the cabinet, one directly over each tube. These are
the lower speed fans so they are fairly quiet but they still do a great job of
providing additional cooling. They are positioned to blow the

used to swap xtals periodically so we could operate new frequencies.
The best part of getting the General license was being able to then use a VFO.
That was a GREAT motivator!

I have them in a C-line and also an L-4. While I like the look, I can see how
some don't as the radios definitely don't look stock.

Awhile back someone was looking for the L4PS HV power supply for the L4/L4B...
Here's a link to one on Ebay. FYI, this is NOT my auction or anyone I know.

A couple of other things to consider. In the R4C - if you upgrade to the
Sherwood audio amp and product detector, you can unplug two tubes (less
filament current). My rcvr also has the blue LED dial lamps which saves a bit
more. I still run a small 12V fan that sits on top of the rcvr. a little
I've been very happy with the look of the equipment after removing the blue
plastic entirely and replacing the bulbs with blue LEDs.

I have them in my R4C, T4XC, and L4.

The L4 and L4B work also work fine on 12 17M. I have one of each and do it
all the time!

Does anyone have a source for the filament voltage feedthru caps (C25 C26)
for the L4B? These are the can-type feedthru caps that supply filament voltage
into the under-chassis RF compartment, near the tuber sockets.
Any info appreciated!

I've located a AGC switch that is NOS for the TR5. Does anyone know if this is
the same type wafer switch used in the R4C? (My R4C has a cracked wafer)
I don't have a TR5 schematic to check. The TR5 front panel shows the same four
positions as the R4C but don't know about the actual switch
I'm presently reconditioning an R4C. I noticed that the wafer of the AGC
switched is broken. The previous owner apparently was a hacker as some other
things in the receiver were pretty shoddy. Anyway, I like to replace this
switch.
Anyone have one or could suggest a source?

Anyone know the values of the can-type power supply caps in the R4C? My
schematic isn't the best and I can't read the values. I believe that one dual
cap is 1000uf and 3000uf. I can't decipher the other.
