Painting wont help as it will block light from passing through the filter
and the yellowing would still be there anyway. The only way to eliminate the
green hue is to replace the white background with something. Go to ACE
Hardware and buy a garage sale or for sale sign and cut the

I thought he was talking about the white painted metal reflector/shield
behind the light. Not the diffuser plastic. I have repainted the white
metal parts with RUstoleum or Krylon White and it does help. I haven't
found a way of bringing the white difuser plastic back to white

Repainting 'helps', but you also have to replace the _white_ (now
slightly yellow) diffuser to really 'fix' it.
I use Testor's 'Flat White' in the little spray can.
