I have a T-4XC that works fine on SSB but when I switch to CW and key the
transmitter, It has full or a lot of drive applied and the gain control has no
effect or control over the drive. Has anyone out there run into this before?
I thought I would check before I start looking for the

On CW the GAIN control varies a DC bias on the Balanced Modulator diodes
to unbalance them. Perhaps that section of the GAIN control has lost
I will look and and see Garey. I'll let you know. I have been studying the
circuit and just getting familiar with it.

OK Garey the ground is there. The pots both check about 520K ohms across the
full windings and checking at the center terminal, the back pot checks
0-520K ohms. The front pot nearest the panel checks 0-15K ohms across the full
range. I must have a problem somewhere else.

Check to see that the voltage on the pot wiper is varying. I don't
remember the values, but as I recall there is a series resistor to
convert it to a
