[Drakelist] TR-6 & RV-6

2015-04-23 Thread Gary Thostenson
Hello to the list:
I'm selling my Drake TR-6 with the rare noise blanker installed and the RV-6
remote vfo.
I'm asking $1250.00 for the TR-6 and $750.00 for the RV-6. Shipping is not
included in the prices.
I'm definitely open to reasonable offers and will sell both as a combo for a
better deal. They are posted on QTH with pictures and explanations of what was
done to the TR-6
If your interested please email me at my QRZ email address.
Thanks very much. Gary Thostenson W9VS

My TR6 is #455, and has a handwritten note (in ink) on the front of the
manual "Warranty Card Mailed 9-8-70". A second note in different handwriting
says "Purchased Henry Radio 6-26-75". I have Drake repair invoices from two
different owners dated 1977 and 1978. My RV6 is #127, and it appears to have
been purchased seperately - I have no history on it other than the pair has
been together at least since the apparent 3rd owner (SK) had them. There is
also a note that the AC-4 was purchased 12-15-75. I'm the 5th owner of the
pair. I have the names of the (apparent) second and third owners from the
repair invoices, and the last owner is a friend of mine, but the original
owner's name is lost in the mists of history at this point.

There's a QST review on the Drake Museum site that has a date of July 1970 on
page "57", so the 1970 note on my manual seems accurate.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Garey, yes I did check and added mine to the list on wb4hfn.
There are not too many TR-6's or RV-6's listed so I thought I would
see what I could find out here with this group.

Have you looked at the Serial Number DB on wb4hfn.com? I suspect
you have since your unit is listed there as the last one. The TR-6
was introduced in 1968, and I suspect yours is one of the last
ones. I don't think they made many more than 5-600. They also
probably didn't make many more than 100 RV-6s. All the factory
records are gone.

I was just wondering from when to when did Drake make the TR-6
and the RV-6, also what was the last serial numbers for these
items? I am trying to find out where my gear fits in as to the
above. My TR-6 is sn, 570 and I think purchased on 18 Oct. 1974.
My RV-6 is sn. 065 and I have no clue when it was purchased. If
no one knows for sure maybe we could collectively come up with
some approximations to the above based on what we do know?
