Maybe you need to exclude kpartx from mapping internal partitions,
or adjust the lvm filter to exclude that device.

I build next system.
DRBD 8.3.15 under CentOS5.9 (x86_64)
I conected 2 X 39TB Raid System under each DRBD system.
These Raid system has gpt partion.
(partition1 135MB partion2 39TB)
These meta-data are external.
/etc/drbd.conf is next.
