Hi All,

I'll be leading the discussion on git distributed version control system in
our #duraspace developers meeting today, Weds Fed 9th 20:00 GMT.

The goal of the meeting isn't "here's how to migrate DSpace to Git", but I'm
hoping to cover "these are some great features about Git".

I'm hoping that all of you make sure to prod me with solid questions that
spur on additional debate.

Quick background about git:
The linux kernel is one of the largest software projects with a large
decentralized network of developers working on many different subprojects
that all gets folded together to get updated frequently.
Linus then wrote a source control management system to manage the
time-consuming cluster of code that needed constant development, merging,
patching, and sharing.

I'll cover
- What is Git, Whats so nice about being able to commit early and often
(locally atleast).
- Basics of git: init, status, diff, branch, commit
- Git submodules

Thanks,
