Well, merge it into core is sort of code for get it released with
the rest of DSpace. So, how shall we get this work to release status
and be distributed alongside the rest of DSpace? We've not done as
well as we might, historically, in bringing good GSOC work into the
product when GSOC ends,

Hi all,
A few comments, which Sands' thoughts brought to mind.
First, a quick FYI for everyone reading along. The REST API code is
actually available in SVN already (this year, we required all GSoC
projects to work out of our SVN). So, any developers can already pull
it down and begin to
All,
Here's yet another possible approach to how we could release the REST API.
I asked the Fedora Commons folks how they went about releasing their

Hi Bojan (and all),
First, I'd agree with Kevin Clarke's point. At a minimum level, I think
we really need support for Basic HTTP Auth before we could think about
releasing the REST API as part of DSpace 1.7 (which I, personally, would

completion, but I think it might be too early for trunk testing right now..
even the GET functionality isn't 100% there yet.

Hello Tim, Aaron and others,
I will first answer the questions:
(1) We noticed that the REST API documentation on the wiki currently
doesn't mention anything about Authentication. How is
authentication expected to be handled (or being handled)? Is it
just Basic HTTP Auth? Is there any
Bojan and Aaron,
I wanted to touch base on the REST project status, based on recent
developer discussions of this project. I've also decided to include the
entire 'dspace-gsoc-student' and 'dspace-devel' lists, as others may
want to add comments. I hope you don't mind having this discussion
