Did you customize the JSPs at all? When I've blank-screened DSpace, it usually means something went bad in the JSP, too soon for an error stack. If this sounds possible, what I would do is rename your customized JSPs (so you don't have to delete them, but DSpace will use the default ones on restarting) until you find the guilty party.
