Hi Kai, The only reason I brought up the licensing, was in case you wanted to contribute it into mainstream DSpace. Probably most important to solve your local needs first. But yeah, I'm thinking a Curation Task that can have every PDF in your system run through a process to use your third party /

Hi Thanks, I will look into curating tasks. We're still quite early in the process, but we do have two different systems already that makes valid PDF/A's. One is called Pixedit which is a third party tool and the second one is a webservice we've built ourselves, but I'm unsure what tool/librar

Hi We're quite early in the process of deciding what to do, and I'm aware that doing in place conversions is not optimal, we do have daily backups and if we do come up with something that can do these reconversions we'll probably work on a copy of the assetstore. I agree that having the docume

In my case, I used Acrobat 8 preflight. Although it was producing output without complaints and it wrote the PDF/A tag into the file, when I ran a PDF/A verification on the output, it simply wasn't valid PDF/A in a crushing majority of cases. YMMV. Regards, ~~helix84 Compulsory reading: DSpace M

I wouldn't recommend altering/damaging your existing PDF's. That just sounds like its inviting risk. A better route would be to build a DSpace curation task, that is capable of doing the automated PDF conversion, leaving the old PDF's in the ORIGINAL bundle, and the PDF/A's going into a bundle suc

Hi Kai, first of all, you should reconsider your intention to do automatic conversion to PDF/A. What is the ratio of successfull conversions on your sample? When I tried it with our ETDs, even though the conversion reported no errors, less than 5% of the resulting PDFs were valid PDF/A. I tried 2

Hi, is it possible to reconvert PDF-documents that are already in the assetstore to the PDF/A format in place? We would use a third party tool to convert all of our PDF-documents stored in dspace to PDF/A's to better be in compliance with national archive rules. Is this possible to do in dspace
