Hi all, I'm trying to run filter-media over some tiff images which range between 200 and 500Mb in size and it is failing with:
$ ./filter-media -n -i 2123/5483 Applying Media Filters Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError I'm running: --------------------------------------------------------------------- java version "1.5.0_20" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_20-b02) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_20-b02, mixed mode) O/S - RHEL AS 5, 32-bit DSpace 1.5.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- I've tried upping memory and it seems the most I can allocate is about 2.5G. From what I've read, my only other option is running a 64-bit JVM. Can I do that on a 32-bit machine and if so, what other things might I risk breaking? Or does anyone have a better solution - this machine has 8G memory so if I could increase java's memory usage somehow, there's plenty to play with and I'm sure java could grab enough to process these images. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
