I installed the EPEL repo: epel-release-4-9, but running "yum install dspam"
says there are no packages that match.

I installed epel-release-5-3.noarch.rpm and this is what it tells me when I try
installing dspam:

Thanks for your comments about the settings, btw.

Did you install the EPEL repo or just download the single dspam binary? You
should install and enable the EPEL repository at which point it will resolve
the dependancies. You will have to install the dspam driver you want to use
like dspam-mysql if using mysql or dspam-hash if using that.

It *shouldn't* overwrite your existing installation configuration, however most
of that depends on *how* you installed your version in the first case. The
dspam installation process in no way touches your actual database schemas. It
does support all the features you mentioned in a previous email regarding
virtual users, mysql and preferences extensions...

Thanks Stevan -

I am reading the URL you sent now...

With regards to the configuration options I had originally had (below), are
these settings I change after the RPM install? (ie are they stored in a config
file?).

Sorry for asking so many questions, but I like to measure twice and cut once,
as they say.

Or the other way around. It is not important. Keep in mind that you will have a
slight downtime while updating to the new schema. btw: Best would be to shut
down the DSPAM daemon before upgrading.

Re: [Dspam-user] Upgrade to 3.9...

2010-03-28 Thread john espiro
Thanks for the quick replies, guys.

OK - so if I install the RPM, what order do I want to do things?

- Upgrade database
-
Install RPM

Do I set the configuration options during the RPM
install, via a config file or what?

Where is the RPM? I didn't see it from the sourceforge page...

Currently, I have:
--prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --with-logdir=/var/dspam --enable-debug
--with-storage-driver=mysql_drv --with-mysql-includes=/usr/include/mysql
--with-mysql-libraries=/usr/lib --enable-virtual-users
--enable-preferences-extension --enable-signature-headers

And I guess one final question... if my settings are overwritten, I assume I
can just restore them from my backup?

Thanks,
John

are you going to install 3.9.0 from the EPEL repository? Nathanael Noblet has
pushed a DSPAM RPM that is as far as I know in Fedora repositry. You can use
that one as well.

I don't know if the RPM is going to overwrite your configuration (I think it
does not) but to be on the save side just backup your dspam.conf and the files
in your DSPAM_HOME (just the files in the root! aka group file) and maybe your
txt directory.

That should be enough. Off course you can go and install from source but to be
honest: The RPM from Nathanael Nobled is the better approach. You don't need to
keep track of future changes because Nathanael and/or the Fedora team will do
that for you :)
