It works! The GPS outputs at 480bps. The default data speed is 9600. I changed the speed on the radio to 4800 and I've got the icon and it saw my position. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. All this work this seemed liked wasted time up to now has paid off!! 73, k3dc Chris

Yes, the RMC type sentence will work if you have set your ID880 to expect it. Carefully go through your owners manual starting on page 73 to be sure you have all settings correct. The other issue I have seen is crossed RXD/TXD pins on one of the connectors... Stay with it and you will be succ
